Post 4

The lecture this week was about input and output with included RFID, Digital cameras, and Google Wallet. I thought that this weeks lecture could potentially be very useful to my idea of an event calendar for sports organizations, outside the games that they play. I think that even though RFID could potentially benefit my idea directly for the calendar, but I believe that RFID could benefit more indirectly at the events that are on the calendar.
I think that for my idea, if you could create a host computer system that takes the information from the RFID tags and organizes it and could update the calendar instantaneously. One function that could be used is using RFID to record attendance to the events and post it as the event is going on. Another way in which you could use RFID would be like the example professor Rubin gave in class, to find missing children at the events, like what is done at the cowboys stadium.
Another concept from lecture that could possible integrate into my idea would be the concept of Google wallet. If these organizations teamed up with Google they could probably create a kind of currency that could be used at the event on their calendars. I feel like this might be harder to organize and make happen for my idea, but I feel that it could have potential. I know that some organizations already have their own currency/gift card money, one example Sabrebucks for Buffalo Sabres, my favorite hockey team.

  1. Very interesting - I particularly like the thought of updating the calendar with other metadata based on attendance, etc. Would it be necessary to use RFID to do this? Are there other effective, perhaps more practical ways to do this?

With regards to Google Wallet, how are others in athletics using it at this time? Would it make sense for you to use it in a similar way? Why or why not?
